The Executive Committee of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC) approved at its meeting today the composition of the Bulgarian delegation for the upcoming Winter Games in Milan-Cortina 2026.
Competitors from the country won 20 quotas for the competitions in Italy from February 6 to 22. Bulgaria will be represented in six sports.

The Bulgarian Olympic team, together with the Executive Committee of the BOC, including the President of the BSF Mr. Iliya Kirilov, were at a reception at the Embassy of Italy before the start of the Winter Games, where the Bulgarian athletes who will participate in the Games in Milan-Cortina 2026 were congratulated and the Bulgarian flag was presented to the two representatives of our Olympic delegation.

The 30th General Assembly of the European Shooting Confederation (ESC) was held in Yerevan, Armenia from 23 to 25 October 2025.

Bulgaria was represented by the President of the Bulgarian Shooting Federation, Mr. Iliya Kirilov, and the President of the Bulgarian Shooting Union and the Bulgarian Olympic Committee, Ms. Vessela Lecheva.

Day One – Report and Key Decisions

On October 24, 2025, the first part of the General Assembly session took place, during which the following were presented:

• Report on the ESC’s activities;
• Report of the Treasurer;
• Report of the Auditor;
• Report of the President.

During the session, amendments to the ESC Statutes were adopted, after which the decision was made to introduce European Championships for the under-23 age category (U-23). Delegates also discussed the qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games, as well as the change in membership fees for the period 2026–2027.

The first day of the General Assembly ended with the discharge of the ESC Presidium.

Day Two – Elections and New Leadership

On the second day, nominations for a new President, Vice-Presidents, members of the Presidium and Chairman of the ESC Technical Committee were presented, after which the voting procedure was held.
Mr. Alexander Ratner was elected President of the European Shooting Confederation, and among the newly elected Vice Presidents is Ms. Vessela Lecheva - recognition for her long-standing contribution to shooting sports in Bulgaria and Europe.

Bulgaria to host two European Championships

After the elections, the candidacies for hosting the European Championships for the period 2028–2029 were presented.

It was proudly announced that the Bulgarian Shooting Federation has been selected as the organizer of two major forums:

• European U-18 Championship in 2028
• European U-23 Championship in 2029

These hostings are a recognition of the development of shooting sports in Bulgaria and will enable our country to host the best young shooters from Europe.

Minister of Youth and Sports Vesela Lecheva, Deputy Minister Petar Georgiev and Political Cabinet Advisor Georgi Alexandrov presented the program for "Olympic Preparation and Development of Sports for High Achievement 2023" to the federations administering Olympic sports.

Representatives of all Olympic federations gathered in the hall on the 5th floor of the Sports Palace, who supported the changes.

There will be three directions in which the funding will be carried out - Olympic preparation, Olympic sports with potential (included in the Olympic Games program) and non-Olympic sports. The formation of the budget of the sports federations will be based on an individual approach, taking into account not only the rankings from the Olympic Games, world and European championships, but also from the finals of tournaments, the rankings for world cups and ranking systems, which in certain cases are the only opportunity to win quotas for participation in the Olympic Games and world championships.

In the period 29 - 30.11.2022 The 70th General Assembly of the International Sport Shooting Federation (ISSF) was held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, which was attended by the President and Secretary General of the BTSF.

On 29.11. 2022, Mr. Iliya Kirilov and Ms. Evgenia Kirilova, participated in the meeting of the European Shooting Confederation (ESC), where the pressing problems facing the shooting sport in Europe were discussed, as well as the progress in the preparations for the competitions, part of the calendar of the European Confederation until 2023.

On 30.11.2022 the 70th General Assembly of the ISSF was held.

The agenda included the reports of the ISSF President, Development Fund, Auditor and Finance Committee.

After the presented reports, the nominations for president, vice-presidents, members of all committees were presented, after which the voting procedure took place. Mr. Luciano Rossi (Italy) was elected President of the ISSF.

After the elections, membership fees were discussed, after which the General Assembly was closed.

In addition to the General Assembly, Mr. Iliya Kirilov and Miss Evgenia Kirilova were also invited to the President's Cup in Cairo, in which the 12 best competitors in the men and women categories in all shooting disciplines of the ISSF participated.

The visit of the BTSF management to Egypt ended with a gala dinner, where the winners in all disciplines of the President's Cup were awarded with the "Golden target" award.

Marin Kirilov and Selin Ali  achieved spectacular success at the 2022 World Championships in Osijek, Croatia.

Our silver medalists from the World Cup 2019 in Finland ranked 4th among the mixed teams out of a total of 56 teams, which is an unprecedented success for the trap shooting sport in Bulgaria.

The two youngsters qualified for the bronze medal match with a score of 143 from the qualification, but after a highly contested final where they held on to the far more experienced Australian pair of Olympians and world medalists Laetisha Scanlan and James Willett, they lost in the shoot off and ranked 4th in the world, leaving behind multiple world, continental and Olympic champions.

The Bulgarian Trap, Double trap and Skeet Federation’s athlete Selin Ali took silver at the European Championship Shotgun in Larnaca, Cyprus and added the title of European Vice Champion to her collection.

Selin Ali qualified with a 3rd place score in the qualifications, which qualified her for the semi-finals.

In the semi-final, Selin managed to defeat the representatives of Slovakia and Spain and qualified for the final.

After a highly contested final, the representative of Italy, Sofia Littame, took the gold medal, with only 1 shot separating Selin Ali from a shoot-off with her for the gold.

Our champion won a silver medal, followed by the representative of France, Loemi Rakasses, who took the bronze medal.

The fourth edition of the international competition Grand prix "Gen. Lavrov " finished.

The competition was held at shooting range "Via", the village of Gorni Dabnik, Pleven in the period 10 - 16.05 2022.

The competition was attended by about 60 athletes from 4 countries - Italy, Romania, Greece and Bulgaria.

In the discipline "trap men individually" Alessandro Belli from Italy ranked first. Anton Cristea from Romania came in second and Fabio Sollami from Italy came in third. The three winners were followed by Teo Petroni from Italy, Christos Detsaridis from Greece and Alexandru Cristea from Romania.

In the discipline "trap women individually" in the first place was the Italian Isabella Cristiani, silver and bronze were won by compatriots Alessandra Della Valle and Gaia Ragazzini. They were followed by the Romanians Diana Saizu and Ana Trifan, and the sixth place went to Evgeniya Kleimenova from Bulgaria.

In the trap men junior event, Francesco Tiganscu from Romania won the gold, Mihai Arsen from Romania won the silver and Mihai Avasiloaie from Romania won the bronze.

In the men's team competition in the Trap discipline, the gold medals were won by the trio consisting of the Italians Fabio Sollami, Alessandro Belli, Teo Petroni. The silver medals were won by the Romanian team - Alexandru Cristea, Tony Cristea and Titu Vladoianu. The bronze medals were won by the Bulgarian team - Marin Kirilov, Krasimir Georgiev and Dian Staykov.

In the "Skeet men individually" event the Italian Erik Pittini ranked first. In second place was Valerio Palmucci from Italy, and third, Vassilios Tsakiris from Greece. The three medalists were followed by the Italian Emanuele Fuso, Georgi Georgiev from Bulgaria and Athanasios Ntenikorakis from Greece.

In the "skeet women " event , Ghiada Longhi from Italy came first, followed by Simona Scocchetti and Francesca Del Prete, also from Italy.

Kaloyan Tonev won the gold in the skeet men junior event, Ognyan Dimitrov won the silver and Viktor Tultukov won the bronze. They were followed by Zdravko Varbanov, Hristo Nikolov and Iliya Iliev.
Miroslav Mitkin was the first in the skeet vterans event.

In the men's skeet team event, the gold medals were won by the Italian team - Erik Pittini, Valerio Palmucci and Emanuele Fuso. The silver medals were won by the Bulgarian trio of Georgi Georgiev, Vladislav Simeonov and Iliya Kirilov. The bronze medals were won by the Greek team - Vassilios Tsakiris, Athanasios Ntenikorakis and Dimitrios Vavakas.

Another success for the BTSF athlete, Selin Ali, who won a gold medal at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany!

She qualified for the finals after defeating the representatives of Italy and the Czech Republic - Sofia Littame and Lea Kucerova in the semifinals, and won the victory over the representatives of Australia Kiara Sioux-Lin Dean (silver), America's Sydney Marie Krieger (bronze) and Italian Marica Patera.

In 2019, when she was only 17, Selin Ali became world champion in the trap women junior event in Lonato, Italy.

In 2021, the young athlete represented our country at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and ranked in the prestigious 20th place.

In connection with the current crisis situation, the Bulgarian Trap, Double Trap and Skeet Federation,
updated its State Sports Calendar for 2022.

On December 2, 2021, the new competition formats for shooting disciplines were published on the official website of the ISSF, which were approved by the ISSF Executive Committee.

The adoption of the competition formats for the  Olympic Games Paris 2024 is subject to the decision of the IOC Executive Board that will be announced on 9 December 2021.

In the period 20 - 24.10.2021. The ESC General Assembly was held in Larnaca, Cyprus, with the participation of the BTSF President and Secretary General.

Mr. Iliya Kirilov, was given a prize by the President of ISSF and ESC Mr. Vladimir Lisin, for the development of shooting sport in Bulgaria.
 
In addition to the reports of the Presidium, the President, the Auditor, the Treasurer and the ESC Review Committee, the agenda included topics related to the representation of shooting in the media, an update of the ESC / ISSF position on ECHA's proposal to limit the use of lead in the shooting and there were also the proposals for changes in the Statute and the General Rules of the ESC, in accordance with the changes in the Statute of the ISSF.
 

On the second day of the General Assembly, the nominations for President, Vice-Presidents, members of the Presidium and Chairmen of the Technical Committee were presented, followed by the voting. Mr. Alexander Ratner was elected President of the ESC.
After the elections, the reports of the organizers of the European Championships in 2022 were presented, information was given about the Third European Games in Poland and the organizers for the European Championships in 2024-2025 were selected.

In addition to the General Assembly, Mr. Iliya Kirilov and Ms. Evgeniya Kirilova also attended the President's Cup, in which the 12 best athletes in the men's and women's categories in the trap and skeet disciplines took part.

The Bulgarian Trap, Double Trap and Skeet Federation has sent its representative to the Olympic Games for the first time since 1996, when in Atlanta we were introduced by the Honored Master of Sports Ivan Gyulev.

Selin Ali got the great opportunity to participate in the Olympic Games in Tokyo thanks to the BSU and the huge support of the management and members of the BTSF.

The Bulgarian athlete ranked 20th in the qualifications, finishing with a total of 115 targets.

Slovak Zuzana Rehak Stefecekova finished first in the qualifications with a record - 125 out of a 125 possible targets.

Kayle Browning from the USAwas in second place with three points less, and the bronze medal went to Alessandra Perili from San Marino.

Letisha Scanlan from Australia, Silvana Stanco from Italy and the Australian Penny Smith ranked 4th, 5th and 6th respectively.

A total of 26 athletes took part in the qualifications for the "trap" discipline in Tokyo, with Selin Ali being the youngest among them.

The President of the Bulgarian Trap, Double Trap and Skeet Federation, Mr. Iliya Kirilov, was awarded by Mr. Belcho Goranov - Secretary Ceneral of the Bulgarian Olympic Committe with the medal "Sport for a Peaceful World" of the BOC for contribution to the development of the Bulgarian Trap, Double Trap and Skeet Federation and the Olympic movement in Bulgaria.

The third edition of the international competition Grand Prix "Gen. Lavrov "2021 came to end. The competition was held at shooting range "Via", Gorni Dabnik, municipality Dolni Dabnik, reg. Pleven in the period 15 - 18.04 2021.

Despite the epidemic situation around the world, about 100 competitors from 9 countries took part in the competition - Czech Republic, Italy, Romania, Greece, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, Finland and Bulgaria. Olympic, World, European and Asian champions stood out among the competitors.

Special guests of the event were Mr. Belcho Goranov - Secretary General of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee and Mrs. Tatiana Bozhinova - Deputy Regional Governor of Pleven, who awarded the winners.

In the discipline "trap men individually" the first place was for the winner of Olympic gold - David Kostelecky.  In second place was the world youth champion Lorenzo Ferrari from Italy, and in third place was the winner of World and European medals Jiri Liptak. The three winners were followed by our young hope Ivan Georgiev, Emanuele Buccolieri and Teo Petroni from Italy.

Selin Ali, our world champion in the women junior category, came first in the trap women's individual event, followed by Asian champion Ray Bassil from Lebanon, and the bronze went to the Czech Zina Hrdlickova, a women junior bronze medalist at the world championship. They were followed by Romanian Diana Saizu, Oxana Sereda from Kazakhstan and Andrea Nikolova from Bulgaria.

In the discipline "trap men junior individually", the gold was won by Iliycho Marinov from Bulgaria, the silver by Ali Ali from Bulgaria, and the bronze was won by Mihai Avasiloaie from Romania.

In the trap mixed team discipline, the gold medals were won by our young hopes and silver medalists from the World Cup, Marin Kirilov and Selin Ali. Alexandru Cristea and Diana Saizu from Romania came second, and Bulgarians Dian Staykov and Andrea Nikolova came third.

In the discipline "skeet men individually" the Italian and world champion in the men junior category  - Elia Sdruccioli ranked first. Erik Pittini from Italy came in second and Jaroslav Lang from the Czech Republic came in third. The three medalists were followed by Czech world champion Tomas Nydrle, World Cup and Asian medalist Saif Bin Futais of the UAE and Daniel Herberger from Czech Republic.

Martina Skalicka from the Czech Republic came first in the skeet women individual event, followed by Barbora Sumova and Hana Adamkova, also from the Czech Republic. Roxana Miklos from Romania, Anna Sindelarova and Dominika Brozkova from the Czech Republic came fourth, fifth and sixth.

In the discipline "skeet men junior individually" the gold was won by Etienne Islai from Romania, the silver was won by the Bulgarian Kaloyan Tonev, and the bronze was won by Stefan Carbunaru from Romania. They were followed by Ognyan Dimitrov from Bulgaria, Matei-Popa Radescu from Romania and Hristo Nikolov from Bulgaria.

Raveca Islai from Romania came first in the skeet women junior individual event, and Carla-Elena Sandu, also from Romania, came in second.

In the Skeet Veterans discipline, Athanasios Chasparis from Greece was first, Gavrail Ivanov second and Miroslav Mitkin third.

In the men's skeet team competition, gold medals were won by a trio consisting of the European champion Jakub Tomecek, Tomas Nydrle and Jaroslav Lang. The silver medals were won by the Italian team - Erik Pittini, Elia Sdruccioli and Emanuele Fuso. The bronze medals were won by the Bulgarian team - Vasil Angelov, Georgi Georgiev and Vladislav Simeonov.

The women's gold medals in the team standings were won by the Czech team, consisting of Barbora Sumova, Anna Sindelarova and Martina Skalicka.

In the skeet mixed team event, the gold medals went to Jaroslav Lang and Martina Skalicka, the silver to Jakub Tomecek and the European bronze medalist Barbora Sumova, and the bronze to Jan Zamecnik and Hana Adamkova, all from the Czech Republic.

The President of the Bulgarian Trap, Double Trap and Skeet Federation, Mr. Iliya Kirilov, was awarded by Mr. Belcho Goranov with the medal "Sport for a Peaceful World" of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee for contribution to the development of the Bulgarian Trap, Double Trap and Skeet Federation and the Olympic movement in Bulgaria.

In reference to letter received from the Ministry of Youth and Sports with ref. № 09-00-3158/07.10.2020 and on the basis of the introduced anti-epidemic measures by the Minister of Health on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Trap and Skeet Federation drew up measures, procedures and rules for application of the anti-epidemic measures of the training and competition process.

In the context of the above, the Bulgarian Trap and Skeet Federation defines and introduces the following "Rules for application of the introduced anti-epidemic measures in the training and competition process in the sport of trap, double trap and skeet", which can be found HERE.

At the top of the rankings in the discipline "Trap" for men is the Honored Master of Sports Marin Kirilov from ESC "Via" Pleven, for women Krassimira Yaneva from SC "Aetos" Aytos, and for men junior Nedelin Georgiev from SC "Ballista" Kazanlak. In the "Cadets men" category, Ali Ali from SC "Aetos" Aytos is in the lead, and in the category of "Cadets women" Andreya Nikolova from SC "Ballista" Kazanlak. In the men's team ranking, the SC "Sokol - 2010" Aytos leads, in the junior's KSS "Stara Zagora 2012", and in the women's SC SC "Aetos" in Aytos.

In the discipline "Skeet" on the first position is the master of sports Iliya Kirilov from ESC "Via" Pleven, in women Tatiana Racheva from SC "Balista" Kazanlak, in men junior Ivaylo Dimov from SC "Ballista" Kazanlak . Zdravko Varbanov from SKLS LRD Pleven ranks first among the cadets. In the men's team ranking is led by ESK "Via" Pleven, in the junior's SKLS "Veliko Tarnovo", and in the women's SKLS LRD Pleven.

In the discipline "double trap" the men are led by the master of sports Hristo Angeliev from SC "Strelets 1893 Pazardzhik", and in the ladies Krassimira Yaneva from SC "Aetos" Aytos. In the team ranking in the first place KSS "Stara Zagora 2012".

The President of the Bulgarian Trap, Double Trap and Skeet Federation Iliya Kirilov expressed gratitude to the government in the person of the Minister of Youth and Sports Mr. Krasen Kralev and the whole team of professionals in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, today in his profile on the social network Facebook. 

His post read:

For some time now I have been taking stock of all the changes that have taken place in the Bulgarian Trap, Double Trap and Skeet Federation since I became its president; for all the successes of international competitions and the better functioning of the federation. I am grateful for your trust in me! 
I am extremely happy that after proving to be a serious federation, with good leadership, communication with the Ministry of Youth and Sports has improved significantly and we have begun to enjoy their support and trust in our federation, and faith in our outstanding athletes. 
I want to express my gratitude to the government in the person of Mr. Krasen Kralev and his team of professionals, because they are exceptional people who really love and support sports! " 
 

This is how Mr. Iliya Kirilov ended, not forgetting to thank all the people, part of the Bulgarian Trap, Double Trap and Skeet Federation, for their trust in him.

Our youngsters Selin Ali and Ivan Georgiev won a bronze medal in the discipline "trap junior mixed team" at the World Championship in Lonato - Italy in July 2019!

Since 2018, Selin Ali and Ivan Georgiev have participated together in the "trap junior mixed team" discipline, and last year took 3rd place at the World Youth Championship in Suhl, Germany in 2018.

Ivan Georgiev was born on August 25, 2000 in the town of Aytos, a student in the 12th grade at High school "Hristo Botev" - Aytos. He started shooting in discipline "Trap" when he was only 9 years old. National athlete of Bulgaria, multiple times national champion in juniors. Grand Prix prizes in Romania, Serbia and Italy. His best achievements at the international level, at European and world competitions are:

• 6th place at the European Championship in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2017.
• 6th place at the World Championships in Suhl, Germany in 2016;
• Silver medal in the discipline "Trap" men junior team at the European Championship in Lonato in 2016.
• 5th place at the European Championship in Lonato, Italy in 2016;

Marin Kirilov and Selin Ali won silver medals at the World Cup shooting tournament in Lahti, Finland. In the final of the team competition, 17-year-old Selin and 22-year-old Marin lost only to the pair from San Marino Alessandra Perili and Gianmarco Berti with 38:40 points. Third place went to Italians Silvana Stanco and Giovanni Peliello.

The success of the Bulgarians is huge, given that their competitiors are longtime professional shooters, including multiple European, world and Olympic champion titles. This is the third prestigious medal in the career of Aytos-born Selin Ali. In July, she became a world champion for women junior in the trap discipline and with her fellow citizen Ivan Georgiev won a bronze medal as a team. 

Marin Kirilov was born on December 8, 1996 in Sofia, a student at the University of National and World Economy - Sofia. He started training discipline "Trap" in 2009 at the ESC "Via" - Pleven. Multiple times republican champion in youth and men in the discipline "Trap". He repeatedly covers the norm for master's degree in men 120/125 at competitions in Bulgaria and abroad, for which he receives the recognition of the federation and a certificate - "Master of Sports". In 2016 at the European Championships in Lonato, Italy entered the youth final with a score of 118/125 and ranked 6th, and in the team standings with his teammates, grabbed the silver medal and became runners-up in Europe. He won a number of first places at Grand Prixs in Romania, Serbia and Italy. His best achievements at the international level are:

• Sixth place in the individual ranking of the European Championship in Lonato in 2016.
• Silver medal in the discipline "Trap" men junior team at the European Championship in Lonato in 2016.
• Silver medal in the discipline "Trap" in the mixed team at the World Cup in Finland in 2019.

Due to his contribution to the shooting, the won medals and the covered standards, on September 29, 2019. he was awarded the title of "Honored Master of Sports" by the Bulgarian Trap and Skeet Federation.

For both of them with Selin, this is the first success at the highest level in the shotgun discipline.

The BTSF athlete from the Aetos Club, Selin Ali, won a gold medal in the trap women junior discipline at the World Championships in Lonato - Italy in July 2019. 

Selin Ali was born on February 14, 2002 in the town of Aytos, a student at "Nikola Vaptsarov" High School. She started training the shooting discipline "Trap" in 2014. In 2015 she became a member of SKLS "Sokol-2010" and competed in the category "women junior", ending the year with 7 first places in the competitions on the national sports calendar of the federation . Receives the recognition "II-category" for covered norm. In 2016 competes in the category "Women" and ends the sports year in first place with a total of 6 first places in the sports calendar. In 2016 she takes part in: World Championship in Suhl, Germany; European Championship in Lonato, Italy; Grand Prix in Bucharest, Romania - ranked first; Twice in Belgrade, Serbia - ranked second and fourth.
